Seems like some regression to the mean going on lately. But hey, if you had asked anyone before the season if fans would be crushed by a loss in early June because they had been playing so well, you’d have taken that.

Kind of goes back to what I was writing yesterday...are these guys for real? I continue to believe they are. But they're probably not a .600-level team. Which is fine! I still think they're going to contend all season now which is a helluva lot better than I figured them for back in March. So I agree with you...I'll absolutely take that.

Tough loss for certain. But, if the Royals can run this scheduling gauntlet in June and finish somewhere in the neighborhood of 14-14 they will be in great shape as the schedule in July gets much much easier.

Which is kind of why last night's loss was tough. The margins are going to be tight this month. They'll steal some wins this year but they can't afford to give away too many against teams like Cleveland. But you're right...the schedule is much more friendly in July. If they can just get through this month without giving up too much ground, they'll still be in good shape going forward.

The error was bad, but let’s not pretend this team was going to win anyway. They failed to push any more runs across. That’s a loss either way

That's a strange thing to say given how we've seen this team stage some late inning rallies. Besides, complexion of a game is different when the score is tied in the later innings. Give me a 5-5 game in the ninth over an 8-5 deficit every time.
