After Lugo's outing on Tuesday, idiot typist me thinks we should call Ragans "Ace," but we should call Seth Lugo "Maestro" or "Artiste," at the very least "MVP(itcher)."
I’m still good with co-aces. Or will just use “Ace” interchangeably. Although Lugo does deserve some sort of flourish. He was so good on Tuesday. So. Good.
What interests me is how the Royals went 9-11 against some of the best competition in baseball and no one who is ACTUALLY in the AL playoff picture (I do not buy the Mariners, Tigers, or Red Sox) was able to really separate. Thanks to the link you gave me, I was able to determine that the Yankees and Orioles went .500 over the same stretch, the Guardians went 11-8 (including 3 wins over the White Sox) and the Astros went 8-11 (including 4 wins over the reeling Royals)
I'm starting to feel a lot better about KC's chances once they make it into the postseason.
It’s wild, isn’t it? Honestly, when it comes to the Wild Card, I feel like I write something like that every year. It’s just a very middling competition. What’s crazy about this year is that I don’t think we will get a team that wins 100 games. The Phillies and Dodgers are the only teams with a shot (I’m not counting the Yankees, Brewers or Guardians who would have to run the table to get to 100), and even then there’s literally no room for error. The tournament looks to be wide open.
Maybe i am a little too confident in their playoff chances, but have started watching the biggest season turnaround numbers. Decent chance my math is wrong, but think with 8 more wins they will have the 3rd largest turnaround in mlb history. 7 more wins and they tie with the much ballyhooed '22 Orioles, the '08 Rays, and the '93 Giants.
Think this would give Quatraro the edge on manager of the year. Vogt as MOY wouldn't be a miscarriage of justice, but the playbook Francona left and the Guardians had in place was much more stable than the mess Q stepped into.
I can’t imagine Q isn’t the AL MOY. I also need to dig into the turnaround numbers. No matter what happens over the next 15 games and into October, this season has wildly surpassed expectations. Just a phenomenal from Q and from JJ. The Royals PR team is circulating sheets touting both for postseason honors. As they should.

Good to hear. I am pulling for these storylines because this team deserves some serious national press recognition.
