Interesting. Now I hope Q puts him in the outfield EVERY DAY. Oh yeah, Omaha. If Melendez has not improved then trade him. Fermin needs to be our catcher. So long Salvy too. Royals aren’t good enough to be overly loyal.
I am very intrigued in a Perez trade. Send some money and buy a prospect. That's how you rebuild.
Trading Melendez now would be selling low. While I'm on the record saying everyone should be on the market, they really need to try to build some value here. I doubt this will happen, but he needs some time in Omaha.
I haven't watched a Royals game since before the All-Star break but I'm so glad to see Cuas go that I can't hardly get myself to care about what they got in return. A minor-leaguer who strikes out 30% of the time sounds exactly like what the Royals seem to always acquire.
He's not going to be an OBP guy, but has made adjustments to cut down the whiffs and will give you good defense with a strong arm. It may amount to nothing, but trades like this are what the Royals should be doing with their relievers. I'll take it.
I'm not a Cuas fan, so naturally I like the trade. I'd think they can still get some decent value for Barlow and probably Yarbrough. I'm holding on to Hernandez tho unless the offer is pretty good.
Maybe so on Yarbrough, but he's a good insurance policy -veteran, lefty, can start or relieve, has pitched well since returning and is relatively fresh from not pitching for 6 weeks. If I'm a contender, it's a guy I can put in the pen and have to throw in there as a 5th starter if someone gets hurt. So, not going to be a huge return, but I'd give more for Yarbrough than I'd give for Cuas.
Agree. And since the return for Cuas wasn’t bad, you have to shop Yarbrough. The versatility there is something that would be very appealing to a contender.
What!?!?!? Tucker Davidson? A 27-year-old guy with an ERA+ of 69? Sounds depressingly familiar. Don't the Royals already have plenty of guys just like this?

I'm thinking the Royals could get something good for Hernández. But absolutely hold on if the price isn't met. No need to go the Lopez route here.
I wouldn't be shocked to see Yarbrough move, but am prepared to be underwhelmed. I prefer to be surprised. Like with the Cuas trade.

Great, another prospect who strikes out at 30%.
These are the guys available to the Royals. It's not ideal.

I find this question irresistible...which will turn out worse for the Royals, the trade for Taylor Hearn or the trade for Ed Hearn?
