Saw him in 2010 here in Louisville ( Reds AAA) - he was a starter then. I would take that guy. Not the one we see today. What scout signed off on him when nobody else thinks he can pitch?
I don't have much to add since this article pretty much sums up exactly how I feel about this signing. I hope we're both wrong, but I highly doubt it in this case. But hey, when he flames out mid-season, or even if he pitches decently enough to get traded & we're all disappointed by what the Royals inevitably get back for him, at least I'll know I was never alone on this one.
His game is not bigger than his problems. That makes it a pass. I hope the guy becomes the clubhouse leader, shows us what second chances are given for. But I'm not holding my breath on this one.
You alluded to it, but leaving aside the declining performance, I don't understand bringing this personality into a clubhouse of young players, even if it's only as a trade chip and he's somehow worth something in July. Feels like Jose Guillen all over again.

It's kind of wild how the Royals found the one guy with no upside whatsoever and decided, "Yeah, he's the one!"

I can’t see how anything positive comes from this signing. Hope I’m wrong.
Me too. But I'm not optimistic.
It's hard to imagine a more hateful, negative and biased piece of written material than this. Absolutely disgusting. Done.
You must have missed what I wrote in July.
Chappy?

It’s possible that I’m completely wrong on the guy. Given his track record and most recent history, it doesn’t seem likely though.

Yep. I’ve seen this movie before. In fact, it was so bad, I may have walked out of this movie before.
If you're gonna sign a domestic violence idiot, at least go for the one with talent (Bauer).
