Boy, Manaea was a monster. Sure glad the R's don't have to face him anymore (until Oct) :).

Cameron is trending up to being as ace-ish as Lugo and Bubic. Amazing poise. That monster blast by Judge might have unnerved a lesser man, but Cam rallied and has been awesome since.

Effing Tigers sure picked a $#!t time to slump. Hoping R's could gain at least one on Mariners.

Rave, Tolbert and Loftin coming through keeps my hopes up that something amazing may still happen. And Cags continuing to hit it hard . . . when he doesn't chase. . .

I continue to wait for the Cameron regression, but the longer he can avoid it, the better for everyone. He was excellent on Sunday.

I’m not sold on the Rave, Tolbert, Loftin trio, but I’ll take a win like that. Bob and the top half of the lineup can’t carry every game.

I guess you've noticed that while the Royals are trotting out Melendez, Renfroe, Biggio, Rave, Loftin, and Cags to the corner outfield, Ryan O'Hearn and Brent Rooker are going to the All Star Game as designated HITTERS? I knew no front office is perfect 100% of the time, but this is a monumental screw up.

I don’t think that, for whatever reason, it was ever going to happen in KC for O’Hearn. Classic change of scenery guy. Rooker was a guy who bounced around quite a bit before landing in Oakland. Sometimes, a guy just needs a chance.

While both would’ve been welcome in this Royals lineup, still happy to see them succeed.

You're essentially furthering my point: They had to get out of KC to develop. For whatever reason, the hitting staff couldn't help O'Hearn and couldn't see the potential in Rooker. It's not like those are the only two glaring failures from that staff, either.

I’m not sure that I am. O’Hearn had just one year with the current hitting coaching staff as constructed. Never played for Quatraro. Picollo was barely his GM. He was pretty much doomed in KC by the point they cut him free. Plus, he was DFA’d by Baltimore just two days after joining their organization.

Rooker was in the org for three and a half months after arriving in a trade for a backup catcher.

I’m far from a hitting coach apologist, but sometimes guys just don’t click in a certain environment. Having said that, it would be great if the road went the other way for a dude the Royals picked up on the cheap.

I hadn't heard of Manaea's arm slot change, but he was very hittable last year and looked impossible this year. I find it hilarious that Tyler Tolbert and Nick Loftin were the guys to beat him.

He changed it last year. He had a really good season in 2024.
