I have been pretty happy with MJ out in the field. Not really worried about the bat, maybe I should be, but I guess I still have a good first impression from last year.

He deserves time to figure things out. Hoping he goes on a hot streak soon. Tons of potential there.

For a large majority of games this season, RISP has stood for Royals Insist on Stranding People. Monday night vs Arizona continued that trend with only a very occasional exception.

Expecting Brad Keller to pitch consistently or even just to be better than he was last year required a leap of faith that I just couldn't take. I knew of no tangible reason to expect any improvement from him whatsoever.

The same is true of the latest crew of coaches, the Magical Pitching Whisperers, who have done little to prove themselves so far. After they're fired a couple of years from now we'll all be saying to ourselves, "What was I thinking? How could I possibly have bought into all the hype about those guys?"

The coaches certainly deserve time. Especially considering they’re trying to undo years of…whatever it was that was happening. As for Keller, I always said if he was still around when the Royals got back into contention, he would be a 5th starter/swingman role. The only thing that’s changed is the timetable for the Royals getting back into contention.

Mr. B, any stats on how often a Royals pitcher gives a lead back immediately after getting one? That is soul-crushing stuff, especially for a young lineup looking for all the positives it can get.

Terry, I haven’t seen anything and haven’t done the legwork on that. But it sure seems to happen far too often. If I find the time, I’ll do some digging. Although the findings probably are soul-crushing.
