Call me crazy, but I'm sorta starting to believe in the bats. I mean, the roster construction is still terrible, but we knew that coming in. It's going to take some time for the new guys to sort through it all make some deals that will hopefully result in a roster that makes better sense. And, of course, the pitching is still abysmal, and they won't seriously compete for anything until they figure that out. But hey, it's still a lot more fun to watch when they hit!
Amen, Mr. G, I bagged Bally Sports streaming because I couldn't bear all the beat downs, but the bats are intriguing.. All the young'uns seem to be figuring stuff out. 'Tis pity Olivares is so shaky leather-wise; lineup could really use his right-handed stick. Have officially lit a candle for the soul of Nate Eaton's bat. That young man is DUE.
I hear you on Oliveras. In my ideal lineup, he’s a DH. But there’s not a lot of opportunity for him there, given this roster construction. At least Quatraro is moving guys around. Maximizing at bats while minimizing the defensive liability. But the ball will still find you…
As for Eaton, last night was unreal. He’s going to hit a couple of flares that drop between the infield and outfield.
Indeed. There have been plenty of positives on the offensive side of late.
I think on the roster, there are some moves coming that have to be made. Kind of forcing the hand so to speak. Waters will be back soon, and behind him will be Lopez.
Mr. B. Please allow me to propose a couple radical solutions for radical times:
DOZIER: Lock him into a batting cage & force-feed him thousands of low-and-away sliders. He'll either learn to recognize the pitch and take it oppo or realize his limitations and gracefully retire
KOWAR: Tired of pussyfooting around, they should plant him into the big team's rotation every 5th day. Let him get is brains beat in and see if the embarrassment doesn't force him to figure things out on his own steam. If he can't, DFA the poor bastard once and for all, perhaps the best solution for him and the organization.
I think the ship has sailed on Dozier. I know Picollo said he wanted to get him 150 PAs, but come on…what is that going to tell you that you don’t already know from the previous 2,200?
Kowar needs to have a modicum of success at Triple-A before they even think about bringing him up. He’s been working in relief and can’t even pitch a clean inning at this point. I do not harbor much hope.

That would be the understatement of the year. Sherman needs to splurge on some special fireworks for when Eaton finally busts out.
