Mr. B, I theorize that the only reason Melendez is not in Omaha trying to be fixed is that they're going to try to move him this winter and sending him down now would (even) further diminish his trade value. Am I (way) wrong?

I can’t imagine that sending him down would hurt his value any more than what he’s produced at the big league level. It’s possible they try to move him this winter, but he would be a true “sell low” guy and it just seems unlikely that the Royals would do that. They need too much in return.

I remain of the belief they need to shop everyone this winter. Which, if he’s lukewarm to signing an extension or the price tag is too much for the heart rates in the front office, includes Witt.

I think the only story from last night (and probably the only thing that matters) is Ragans. And yes, there is definitely a very small sample size warning, but a lot of promise for him and the new coaching.

The game was a nine-inning war

And should have been destined for more

When the fielders saw the knob

But plate ump failed at his job

And let first base call it "Ball Four!"

I happened to catch some Royals-Red Sox highlights on the local news and a mystery presented itself: the Red Sox normally have such great uniforms, both classy and classic. What in the world are they doing wearing those rec-league softball uniforms? I genuinely don't understand what banana yellow and UN-peacekeeper blue have to do with Boston or with the name "Red Sox." Maybe they wore those colors long ago. If so they did the right thing by replacing them. How embarrassing for them, how amusing for the rest of us!
