I almost posted a message here after Brady Singer's start that I really enjoyed watching him pound those first pitch strikes until he appeared to tire out for his last few batters. I'm glad you highlighted this! It gives me a little bit of hope that maybe the new pitching coaches are actually reaching these guys.

The early returns are encouraging. But there's still a lot of baseball left and starts to be made...

I realized I've kinda written Pratto off because "not all these guys are gonna work out". That's probably true, but also it doesn't really mean anything specifically for Pratto. He might or might not completely independently from all the other guys.

He's kind of the dark horse prospect at the moment. Part of that is there doesn't seem to be space for everyone. The other part is he hasn't had the results in his first cup of coffee. They need to give him a legit shot or have him rebuild some of that prospect status in Triple-A and explore a trade.

The roster construction has definitely not done Pratto any favors. I feel like a large percentage of the fanbase has kind of written him off after Vinnie emerged last season. Don't necessarily think that FO has, and while he definitely has areas that need to improve, I'm still fairly high on him. But whether he carves out a spot for himself in KC or shows enough to be dealt for real value, I think he can be an important piece.

Maybe the most encouraging thing is that I think Picollo actually will look to trade him if he proves to be worth something, but can't manage to find a spot on this team. That generally wasn't the case under Moore. They would either keep him in Omaha way too long, force some kind of platoon that wouldn't be doing him or Vinnie any favors, or try to shoehorn him into another position that minimizes his value, because they don't want to trade one of their guys. I'm all for versatility, but Pratto looks like a Gold Glover at 1B. So if the bat continues to develop, if he's not manning that position in KC, I'm hopeful they'll actually pull the trigger on a deal. It's perfectly acceptable if he's good somewhere else, so long as you get something good in return.

Gee if we trade Chapman now aren't we just kinda, after 5 games, throwing in the towel for the rest of the season. If he is back he will be a hell of a lot more valauble to a contending team at the trade deadline.
