I have yet to see anyone pen a piece about how the balanced schedule will impact the Royals effort to improve the win column. Am I the only one who views the balanced schedule as a challenge with games taken off the schedule vs. Tigers, ChiSox, and Twins? Didn't the chase for .500 just get much harder?
It’s an interesting question, but I’m not sold the impact is going to be too great. Yes, there are fewer games with the Tigers, but they get three with the Pirates and three with the Reds. The flip side of course is games with the Dodgers and Padres. But as we saw last summer when the Pirates took 5 out of 6 from the Dodgers, catch a team at the right time and good things happen.
I think the schedule is just one of those things where we’ll have to wait until the end of the year to see how it played out. Personally, I like fewer games against the AL Central. Those quickly got stale.
We also get the Nats. And the Braves, Mets, Phillies. Can we agree that playing all 15 NL teams is absolutely ridiculous? Interleague play, reply and the loss of the manager on the field, and now full schedule integration. Death by a thousand cuts. What is next? California rule for extra innings?
I’ll give the schedule thing a little time because I don’t think it’s permanent. There’s going to be some realigning in the next couple of years. I do miss the old schedule that had teams coming to KC twice a year. Pre-interleague days.
Agree with everything you said on the Melissa Lambert front. I think it's a great move, & it's great to see the team embracing yet another more forward-thinking attitude. I think it starts at the top, & I love it.

Agree about it starting at the top. And why it was so important to move on.
