The Cards have been winning of late. They’re in the second Wild Card spot.
I don’t know that “obligated” is the right word. He’s probably thrilled to be asked. It’s a fun opportunity for him, especially because it’s in the Dallas metroplex.
I don't mind a swap kind of trade. Maybe Wacha for a good bullpen arm. The rotation is our only position of strength. I don't want to buy though. This farm system isn't good still and the Royals need it to be a machine pumping out real players.
I don't see the team reversing this slide though. They have one good unit, one very average unit, and one very bad unit. That sounds like a team that hangs around but doesn't get a spot.
It’s been a rough stretch to be sure. But coming out of the break, the schedule eases up a bit. Six with the White Sox along with the Cubs, Diamondbacks and Tigers. Plus, the first nine games are at home. This will be the time to solidify their position.
I think the only trades the Royals can make are the ones where they’re dealing major league talent for major league talent. As you say, the farm isn’t deep enough to do any kind of prospect type of trade. They need to work on building a surplus there.
My argument will be that if they can hang around, there’s always the possibility they go on a late season run and surge into a spot.
Interesting wild card week for sure. Too bad the 2 teams the royals are trailing get to play the hapless and the homeless. Rays may even catch a break as they always seem to have the yankees number. Sure hope the boys in blue bring the bats today
I just hope Bobby does better in the Derby than he does in regular season games in I'm Too Lazy To Look Up The Name Park in Arlington. I think he presses too much there.
He definitely had a rough time of it a couple weeks ago. Maybe he just lets it rip to the point the next time the Royals play the Rangers in Texas, he dominates.
The stadium (or arena? Or warehouse?) in Texas offends me.

Offense needs to show. Twice!
Have it on good authority that Q is a hell of a human being too, for what it's worth.
Can confirm.
