It's a great newsletter, definitely worth the subscription. Probably preaching to the converted here, but I recommend it on my substack and spread the word to every fellow Royals fan in my sphere. Looking forward to seeing what your big plans in 23 are!
It's safe to say Lovelady is pretty discouraged and I can't say I blame him. He tweeted out something that he later deleted. I'm glad he believes in himself even if the Royals never seem to. I'm sure he'll get a chance soon. Wittgren or Weiss over Staumont is more mystifying to me tho, since the Royals have Chapman, Garrett and Yarbrough.
Lovelady just can’t seem to get a spot that he (and just about everyone else) feels as though he deserves. It’s got me thinking...With different relievers shuttling back and forth between KC and the minors, how will the innings for each bullpen arm shake out? Staumont isn’t starting the year in KC, but will he be in the top 5 in appearances and/or innings at the end of the year? Will Lovelady? I kind of think it’s within the realm of possibility for both. It’s going to be interesting to see how the Royals handle the depth they think they’ve built up.
Good stuff, great newsletter. I wish i could find newsletters like yours for all the other mlb teams. If you have any recommendations, please let me know🙂👍⚾️
Thanks! It's kind of strange that there aren't more team-centric newsletters. Two I would recommend are Sox Outsider by Matthew Kory for Boston and The Batflip by Andrew Stoten.
This JBJ signing really has me irritated. In the end he is just going to take bats away from young guys.He has never hit, this year will be no different. I hope everyone is wrong that he has made the team. Like every one else, really looking forward to the season
I completely hear you on the JBJ signing. This is where I am putting my faith in the new management. With Matheny, Moore and company, there's no doubt JBJ would be the regular within two weeks of the regular season. With Picollo and Quatraro...I just don't think that's going to be the case. Of course, we don't know for sure. But I'm optimistic that this time things are going to be different.
JBJ is a has been. When he really wasn't anything. The college world series was his highlight plus being a red Sox player....Lorenzo Cain was 10X better, but JBJ is probably a moore/piccolo christian!!!
A pitcher that throws hard but has no mechanics and can't find the zone....a batter who can't make contact but every now and then hits one out........guess the ethnicity!!!
Relentlessly hyped for this baseball season. Even took opening day off and I haven't done that in years.
Same. Very excited to see how everything plays out. Haven’t felt this way for years.

Thanks, Patrick. Appreciate it!
