Is this is the only time in history that someone did their own research on Twitter and it worked out? Probably. Wild that Singer is out there trying. Someone has gotten through to him.
With everything at his disposal from his starting pitching teammates to pitching coaches to the data the club provides, that Twitter is out there helping him is certainly something.
Holy cow, that's like a 20% leap after 2 games. FanGraphs seems to be implying the same thing I'm saying: the Royals didn't just come out and sweep the White Sox, they did it in such a convincing way that any idea it was just beating up on a bad team is ridiculous.
To answer your question about whether I was worried yesterday, the answer is no. The White Sox bullpen is bad and the Royals have only been shutout four times all year. As long they're not down more than 1-0, I assume they're going to win.
Yes, being down 1-0 was more annoying (due to the chances they hadn't cashed in) than worrying. Once the White Sox bullpen got involved, it felt like just a matter of time.
(crossing my fingers that this is just the start of Cleveland's return to Earth)
As dominant as the Royals' sweep was, what really has me excited is the fact that the Guardians finally gave up some ground. Their record seemed like it was based on more than a little smoke and mirrors so I've been hoping they'd regress in the 2nd half, I just didn't expect it to start so soon.
They started sliding before the break. In their last 10 games, they've been shutout four times and scored one run on two other ocassions. They're 3-7 in that stretch. I think it's happening.

I’m beginning to think Singer’s brain just works, um, differently.
He contains multitudes.
It's been a long time since we could say at the end of August, "this is fun!"
We're not to August yet, but I totally understand the sentiment. :)
I have no idea how all this ends, but I do think they're in it for the rest of the way. Going to be an insane stretch run.

Nice feeling to have, right? Thank you Reinsdorf, Getz and crew.
Certainly nice to be on the other side of it.
"... it’s difficult for the computer to pick up the differences. Circuit boards and such don’t deal with nuance."
That's beautiful.
