JJ Picollo is snubbed. Bobby Witt Jr. and Salvador Perez are on another awards shortlist. Plus, a clue to how the starting pitching market will take shape.
I've often wondered about how intangibles (i.e. non-money factors) go into where a player signs in the NFL or MLB. I'd guess that salary & related matters--state taxes--might still be most important, but surely whether the spouse & children like the schools, whether the player trusts the organization, whether there's an opportunity to win & play with Mahomes or Witt, etc. factor into the decision. Good to get some insight!
Yeah. There are probably a ton of factors that are unique to each player. And I think you're correct...salary is number one, but lifestyle has to be up there along with organizational competence. Wacha seems like a good dude. Appreciate him diving a bit into the factors that matter to him and his family.
Wow Lugo won a batting title! Ya it also said Witt was the first ss to win a batting title! I almost used that into to embarass myself. I think he is the first ss to win the batting and gg? In the same season.
May be good JJ didn’t win. Perhaps he comes back more motivated instead of sitting on his hands at the deadline and declining to go for it like Elias did this season after winning last year.
Sadly, Lorenzo Cain is not on the Gold Glove list for his work in KC, but we know how well he did here.
Yeah. Gold Gloves aren't the best measure of defensive excellence. That Cain never got one only underscores that point.

I think that's correct on Witt.
