I can't understand why the Guardians don't take more heat for refusing to spend. They won more than 90 games last year and just did a salary dump trade. Insanity.

Right? They’re always doing this but they seem to usually have a decent enough base to be in the mix in the Central. I don’t think anyone expected them to win 92 games but somehow it happened.

Can't help but think MJ is more a head case than a fix-it swing problem.

Whither Michael Lorenzen? Any chance he comes back? Could make a solid swingman.

I miss the traditional LOOGY but shorter, crisper games make up for it, IMO.

Cannot wait for this season. Central Division on the rise at long last! Check the cinch of your saddle.

I think Lorenzen is in that mix of dudes who sign just ahead of camps opening as teams are filling out their 25 or 26th spot on the roster.

With you on the LOOGY.

I found this quote from the KC Star to be irritating. I know very well that Q knows baseball & personnel much more than I ever will, but penciling in Garcia at third seems nuts. He's an excellent utility infielder who would be an absolute weapon as a pinch runner / defensive replacement, but an everyday player? Or do you think he's just blowing smoke to cover up his real plans?

On Monday, Quatraro told reporters at the Winter Meetings in Dallas that Garcia will primarily be at third base but could shift to different positions while in a full-time role.

“He’s going to play a lot at third base,” Quatraro said. “We’ve seen his versatility. He is the shortstop if something were to happen to Bobby (Witt). He can play second. We’ve put him in the outfield a couple times. I know in the spring we’ll just move him around, but primarily at third base.”

I think that’s the plan for Garcia of the season started today. They don’t really have other decent options. But things happen…plans change…trades are made…
