Mr. B, re: Melendez's backtracking issues, exactly who on the team's staff coaches the outfielders? And is Rusty Kuntz available for some individual work with MJ? Uncle Rusty worked magic with Alex Gordon and it sure would be nice if he could turn this prized youngster into at least a serviceable outfielder. Also, is Mitch Maier still around? He was a pretty, pretty, pretty good outfielder.
I feel like the Royals have plenty of good coaches to help. He just needs some reps but if probably doesn’t help if he’s catching a couple of days a week.
It’s difficult for me to speculate on a Witt trade because the idea that they would move him bends my brain. A lot would have to do with where the Royals are as an organization. Completing or hitting reset on a rebuild? If it’s the latter, most of the Red Sox prospects are in the low minors. Start with Mayer and add names from there.

Speculate on the return for Witt if he was traded to Boston rather than mondesi.

Surely Asa Lacy fits somewhere in the middle of this list based on potential alone, although clearly not results.
83 walks in 80 minor league innings kind of puts a damper on any kind of value.
