I continue to see a lot of 2007-2008 Zack Greinke in Singer's style and results right now. That slider sweeping down and in on lefties paired with a 95 mph fastball he can locate. Zack did say he appreciated what Gil Meche did for his career and that he'd like to pay it forward to others. I think we might be seeing that happen right before our eyes.

This would be an amazing—and welcome—outcome. I’ve just been so impressed that Singer has stayed steady in his outings. He’s in total control (if you get my meaning). If Greinke has had anything to do with this, it’s automatically money well spent by the org. Maybe he’d like to become a pitching coach/guru after his playing days are over?

Craig: here is the average OPS in MLB over the past three seasons plus this one:

2019: .758

2020: .740

2021: .738

2022: .709

I know this has been cussed and discussed to hell and back a thousand times. But I'd really like to get your thoughts/theories/speculations as to why this is happening.

Maybe it's just the normal yin and yang of baseball, but it feels like a fairly strong trend. Maybe there's more to it than that?

Note added after the first inning Monday night at Minnesota: it appears that Vinnie didn't get the memo about this whole rapidly dropping OPS thing. Which is absolutely fine with me!

Those first and fourth pitches that Singer threw to Bellinger were in....let's call it... "suboptimal locations."

While I'm glad his stuff was good enough that he got away with it, I'm really hoping he doesn't make a habit of that. Nobody pitching against MLB hitters can survive that way for long.

But that's a little nitpicky. His dominance over the Dodgers reminded me of Danny Duffy's 18-strikeout game. The Dodgers looked completely overmatched, and I'm quite confident that hasn't happened much this year.

Craig - in your opinion what is the percentage chance that, in this coming off-season, the organization completely overhauls their pitching coaches/development people the way they did on the hitting side a couple of years ago?
