Hate to bring this up but Salvy's inevitable regression to the mean has been brutal. He's 10-59 (MJ territory) with 1 HR and only 3 RBIs. The strikeout are mounting. Very worrisome.

It’s been a rough stretch for sure, but five of those 10 hits have gone for extra bases (four doubles with that home run) and he’s drawn six walks (two intentional). He’ll go through times like this and the hot start will provide a bit of cover. I’m less worried about him than I would’ve been in the past because Q knows how to rotate Salvy to keep him (hopefully) fresh.

I’ve been a little skeptical of the Royals’ start, but after this weekend, I’m much closer to being fully confident about this season. I was on a train yesterday afternoon watching the game on an app, saw that MJ was up with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth , and said (to myself I think), WTF is Q doing letting him hit? And then boom! This team.

I get the skepticism. I’ve been there! But the signs are too loud to ignore and this has been going on for too long.

No clue if this team can survive the entire season, but they certainly have our attention. Let’s have some fun!

Need some bullpen help while Cleveland is in striking distance here. Your closer cannot be walking 2. Can't count on the wild card in my opinion. You might win 85 and still miss out.

The money is on Picollo to make not just a move, but an impactful move. If the front office truly buys that this isn’t a fluke, they’ll be active. And I think ownership will support that kind of aggression. They need at least one “difference-maker” in that bullpen. Preferably two, but I’m greedy that way.

When Rex says "Here comes the General", I cringe. He is not a closer. The Royals don't have a closer, IMHO. I don't know what the answer is, but the front office needs to find one. Yes, he got some saves early in the season and looked pretty good. He doesn't look like that anymore. Please Mr. Sherman, this team is so good it deserves a real closer.

McArthur is a good reliever with some potential. But he’s not there yet. At least not for a team in the thick of a race.

There’s no doubt in my mind the Royals jump for a Proven Closer. Bit nervous about that, given the general nature of relievers but something has to be done. The status quo won’t hold for the entire season.

Im actually thinking now could be the perfect time to send MJ down with a "we both know you can do this, now go polish it in Omaha and come back to help us get to playoffs"

A month down there…back at the break…if it clicks for him that’s like adding a bat at the trade deadline. But it sure feels like they want him up here. Domes, I guess.
