As much as I will pull for this remarkable, fun team to succeed in the postseason, my biggest hope is that Bobby Baseball shines, in whatever fashion, so that all of America can learn about and come to appreciate what an amazing talent this young man is.
I think it’s so great that the same year the Royals and Witt came to a long-term commitment, they’re going to the postseason. And yes, he needs to be on the biggest stages of the game. He’s already checked off the home run derby and All-Star Game. Now, it’s onto the postseason.
Thank you White Sox for losing all those games to the Royals and still coming through yesterday to beat the Tigers! One of my new favorite teams! (Ha). This means I’ll be at game one tomorrow. Let’s go Royals!
I have to say I am not a fan of the rule that teams are restricted to a 26 man roster for the post season. Teams play all of September with 28 players and now have to leave two guys home. That's just rotten.
It used to be worse! Teams would load up their September rosters with over 30 guys. That's another rule change (September roster size) that's better for the game.
Already tired of the White Sox talking point (not that you're espousing it, but a little surprised Posnanski is). There are always terrible teams to beat up on. Last year, Arizona went 10-3 against the Rockies and made the playoffs by one game. When Seattle broke their playoff drought in 2022, they went 14-5 against the 68-94 Rangers. That same year, Philly made the playoffs by one game, thanks largely to a 16-3 mark against Washington. I don't recall any of those teams being asked to apologize for their spots in the playoffs.
It's simple narrative. And historic. So people are going to lean into it. As you say, there are always bad teams and those are the teams the good teams need to beat to separate themselves from the pack. It would be great if three of the final four in the AL came from the Central.
Thank you for all the great articles this season. I don't think I ever get through one without at least one audible laugh, so I have to be careful where I read them.
"I’m good with this because of, you know, chaos." got me this time.

It will be great to play the Yankees in the playoffs again.
Take me back!
