Well, you're going to feel really bad about your harsh words about Dozier after seeing the pregame segment that showed just how hard he was working.

(No you won't - Dozier is washed. He's more than washed. He's washed that was left to mildew and then rot.)

It's just not going to happen. I know the Royals say they are committed to him, but this just can't keep being allowed to continue.

“Pinch-hitting for guys gets in their dome,” he said. “And you don’t want to get in their dome in the second game. When nobody is really swinging the bat good.”

“We’re hoping that he bounces back this year, and you don’t start jacking with them mentally. It’s hard for people to understand that, fans to understand it. But that plays a big part in it, them having confidence in knowing that the manager has confidence in them in those situations.”

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I could be totally wrong on this, but I think the leash is short with Dozier. It's not going to be short enough, but things will change. They have to. Otherwise, we're just spinning our wheels for another 20-odd years.

It's early days for this front office and coaching staff.

You're right. In fairness to the field staff, the front office has saddled them with Dozier and a lack of any quality bench depth.

And not even necessarily this front office. They’re paying for the poor decisions of the previous GM.

JJ Piccolo said that the front office send “suggestions” about the lineup to the manager. Maybe the front office is Dozier’s champion and the manager has little say about it

I don’t thing they’re that heavy-handed. There seems to be a solid working relationship between the front office, the analytics department and the field staff. They’re running the data and providing info, but it’s up to Quatraro and his coaches to ultimately determine the best lineup.

Although there was a desire to give Dozier every opportunity this year. How long that lasts is anyone’s guess.

Dozier is just not a major league hitter. Shame on Dayton for giving a 28 year old controlled player a contract extension that literally not a single other GM would have based on 3/4ths of one good year on 2019, but it is a sunk cost that they just need to eat and move on from. Garcia is off to a good start in Omaha.

This. All of this.

Out of all the dumb things this front office has done, the Dozier deal is one that always stands out for me as being particularly stupid. Not that the money was crazy, but if I remember right he was nowhere near becoming a free agent. There was literally nothing to lose by waiting to see if he could replicate his successful period. This more than any other Moore deal had a real "give him some money because he's a Good Jesus Man" vibe to me.

It never made any sense. And as we move further and further from that deal it’s made even less sense if that’s possible.

Agree on Dozier. I roll my eyeballs when I see him penciled in.

The Phillies lost their starting & BU 1st Baseman to injury. They're paying Kingery $8.25 this year w a 1 m BO for '24. Kingery is a 40 non roster guy as well. Make the call J.J.

It should be obvious - it could help Dozier and get us some return
