Another grand slam. Another comeback. Yes, it was ultimately a loss for the Royals, but there are plenty of positives to pull from last night and this recent stretch of games.
Dairon Blanco is very lucky it was BWJ running and not someone slower, or we'd be talking about him in 20 years like we do about, say, Chip Ambres. That would have been an all-time way to end a game. And it would have unfortunately overshadowed another fun effort (from the offense, anyway).
Ah, yes. Great point. The replay they showed of Blanco getting tagged out and Witt touching home was certainly too close for comfort. To think Blanco was so close to going down on Royals lore!
I may be crazy, I don't know, but has anyone considered that he pulled up short of third to make sure that Witt did indeed score. That, to me is the only explanation as to why he didn't slide. I don't know if that's what happened or not, but the way it looked to me is if he had slid full speed he very well could have out and indeed could have been out before Witt scored.
Maybe? That would be a savvy baseball IQ move I suppose at a moment when everything was happening. It would’ve made more sense if he just stopped halfway between second and third. Kind of like Butler getting in a rundown in the Wild Card game.
Mr. O'B, are there ANY signs that the bullpen is going to take SOME kind of shape, give us SOME hope, or is it just going to keep being a parade ground?
Second all of this. Nice piece.
Thanks, JC. Appreciate it.
A bad performance by a pitcher who’s not part of the future, Witt stays hot, the team comes back, and still loses to not hurt draft position. A big W.
Draft *lottery* position. :) But yes, it felt like a win. (I’m becoming very close to sounding like a former GM.)

Definitely feels like this team has hit the bottom and bounced. How high is tbd, but we're on the ascent.
Indeed. Somewhere, Buddy Bell is left confused by the whole thing.
