Agree with comments on new stadium, but I do think Kauffman is beginning to show its age. Not so much on the field or seating but in the concourses. They are starting to feel run down and tight. Maybe part of it is that the concessions aren't great, and it taints the whole experience in the concourse, but it's hard to walk into a new stadium and then argue Kauffman is not showing its age. Moreover, we still have 8 years to go with it at least. What will it be like in 2030?

I certainly understand about the concourses. And the concessions. Sadly, I haven’t been in any of the newer ballparks recently. I bet my perspective would change if I took in a game at any of the newer yards. And admittedly, my needs at a game are simple. I don’t walk around, I don’t eat or drink much. I just sit and keep score.

I visited the new Atlanta ballpark this summer and had 3 take away points. #1 parking was expensive and difficult. I paid $50 to park off site and $40 parking Wasson for away there is a booming peddle cab business going from the parking lots to the stadium. #2 No tailgating allowed. They built these nice restaurants and bars right next to the stadium and the last thing they want is you drinking for free in the parking lot. #3 the concourses were nice and wide but the food was even more over priced than normal. I think my brother spent $23 for a Philly cheese steak sandwich.

Just my opinion and what I took away from my experience at that particular stadium.

Hey Eli! I understand that point #1 (parking) is a massive concern when talking about a downtown stadium. Especially coming from a place like the Truman Sports Complex. But I do think that over time people will find a way to get to the stadium that works for them. #3 is why I never eat at The K. The food is too expensive and the quality is subpar. In my experience.

If a downtown stadium is going to be built, it needs to be done with ownership's money and not with taxpayer money. Why should the fans (taxpayers) have to subsidize a billionaire's efforts to make more money? Fans already pay enough to attend a game through parking fees, concessions and ticket prices. If Sherman wants a new stadium, let him pay for it.

That’s a whole other issue I will dive into at some point. I agree with you. But am almost certain taxpayers will be on the hook for a large chunk.
