Love this team. With the 2014 team celebration, I realize, I love this team more than that one. I think it's the leadership at the top for me. There was always a feeling of lightning in a bottle with that team. Like everyone's career years happened in the same two calendar years. This team feels different to me.
That would get my vote! Schreiber has been solid, Zerpa has been very good but after that it can get down right scary. The General has been very shaky as late, we need a legitimate closer for sure.
Another great article! I love your enthusiasm about the Royals. It is so good to enjoy watching them again. Garcia, I believe, will become a steady .300 hitter scattering a dozen or so homers per season. Nothing wrong with that and with Witt behind him, what a great dynamic duo.
I think .300 may be pushing it a bit, but if he can post an OBP in the .335 range, I’ll be happy I think. The power is most definitely developing. And the defense…That’s part of what I love about this team. The good defense, especially on the left side of the infield.
Thanks, Clark! Appreciate that. Not gonna lie, last year was tough. As were the Matheny years. It’s good to be able to write about a fun baseball team once again.
I actually took the afternoon off for this matchup and boy was it worth it. Ragans is a bonafide ace now- he may have said the right things postgame, but he definitely wanted to go toe to toe with Skubal. I also enjoyed keeping an eye on the Orioles going down 2 games in one day, even if it was by the cards (yes, I am already keeping an eye on wildcard spots)
Let’s not get all carried away and say we like this team better than 2014-15. Let’s just temper our expectations a little bit. For Christs sake 2014-15 was maybe the best fan experience I’ve had. And that’s discounting for whatever reason my fandom of the Redskins in the 80s and early 90s
2014 especially was wild. Incredible. I’m just saying that I find this year’s group to be different, and results aside at this point, I enjoy the current dynamic more. The wily veteran in Perez. The high draft pick who committed to KC in Witt. Vinnie, a character. Ragans, Lugo, Wacha as the guys they finally had to go and get to be a successful team. I enjoy Quatraro as well. I could go on and on. They just work well together as a team.
There’s plenty to like about those championship teams and as we saw last weekend, they’ll never be forgotten here. With excellent reason. They gave us memories that will last forever. I just like the style the current group plays with.

Wouldn't say no to an HDH in the pen though.

Zerpa is the guy who scares you and then you look at his Baseball Reference page and you’re amazed at how good he’s been.
Seth, I said something similar on here a week or two ago…I just enjoy this team more than those pennant winners. The dynamic is perfect.
And yeah…give me three relievers to lock down the games. Hell, I’ll settle for two. Or one.

Craig, I think the excellence on the field must be catching. You are putting up some kick-a** columns lately, while The Boys Are Playing Some Ball!

Uncle Hud would tell you it’s all contagious.

It’s never too early to be thinking Wildcards. It’s new for us, but definitely not too early.
YEAH, LETS DO THIS!! Bring on Cleveland and the Yanks!
