Kris Bubic overwhelmed the Giants, and the offense, on the back of a Vinnie Pasquantino home run, did just enough to secure a win. So very 2025 Royals.
I think you’re right on the double play. A normal-depth infield and there would’ve been a bit of trouble.
We should declare Bubic the ace until further notice. Because he is. And the other guys are good enough that this title can be passed around. What a rotation.
Now that we're 25% into the season, a lot of sites are posting their "early favorites" for the awards. Noah Cameron isn't mentioned anywhere, but he's now going to get a shot at Rookie of the Year if Lugo / Ragans are out for a month. I guess a problem might be if he continues to excel, who gets bumped from the rotation?
One thing I've never understood is first pitch strikes. Do pitchers really have to be coached to do this? It seems like one of the more common sense approaches in baseball.
You would think, but the Royals have made it into something of a mantra with Sweeney and Bove. That and…throwing strikes overall. There was a lot to fix from the old guard.
Didn't have the "black screen" problem with MLB.TV. Not sure FanDuel is the long-term solution anyway.
FanDuel is merely a stopgap until MLB gets their act together on streaming and blackouts.
I certainly hope we fans can appreciate the brilliance of this starting rotation.
De facto ace Bubic has presented a challenge to Ragans' unofficial title that should motivate the
others as well.
Agree that was the most 2025 Royals win yet. Down-to-the nubs digits confirm it.
One point re: the key double play: Seems to me if the defense had been playing normal depth that
ball might have dropped in front of BWJ, and with a crazy spin. Who knows what could've
happened then? A much-deserved break that they were playing in. Brilliant play by those two.
India get my vote for Mr. Grit; another terrif AB in a key spot. Now about his glove . . .
Am beyond exasperation with FanDuel. Does anybody there actually watch these broadcasts?
"I contain multitudes." Brilliant backside cover, Mr. B.

I need to see some more from Cameron, but cannot deny he’s off to a fantastic start. I’m excited to see what he can do on a regular rotation turn.
If sites are doing “early favorites” Bubic should be all over the AL Cy Young discussion.
Nice write up, Craig.
Thanks, Don! Appreciate it.

So glad to finally see Bubic getting his flowers. It's amazing what a smart pitcher can do with competent coaching!
