I've been under the assumption that BWJ's lack of steal attempts has been a decision to keep him as injury-free as possible. Am I wrong? If that is indeed the case, has the decision been management's?
Knowing this megastar as we do, the assumption from here would be that, if given his druthers, BWJ would be running his (legs) off.
Perhaps, but it's not like he's taking it easy going around the bases. I think there's just been a little more caution given his success rate and the fact that these games actually mean something. Something to watch going forward I think.
But his best attribute may be between his ears! A lot of guys on that list were candles that burned bright...but short.... this kid ...I call Twinkle Toes because he runs on his toes..... is gonna burn bright for a long time.... great article!
Judge was so great in May and June he was going to have a tough time maintaining that kind of production. Plus, with the weak lineup around him, teams are a little more likely to work around him.
The team went 13-10, but 6 of the wins were against the White Sox. In short, they need the other guys to step up because Bobby's greatness isn't enough to keep them in contention.
I've been thinking a lot about this the last few days. Mainly because, yes...the White Sox are terrible. The Royals have taken advantage to be sure. On the other hand, they're .500 against the rest of the league. Still, in today's baseball .500 puts you in a spot for a Wild Card. And it's a fantastic improvement from where they were last sesaon.
A PS: I watched the Sox feed for the past three games, and their announcers (Steve Stone in particular) raved about how Witt is a great human being in addition to being a great player. Maybe the Royals will get that bonus that the Chiefs get with Mahomes in that free agents will want to be on a team with him?
My favorite Bobby thing is the 3B, the 3B that would have been 2B for anyone else, and you just know hes gonna go. Surprised he only got one in July - He must be slipping ;)
Yes, we need to savor this.
100%. And hopefully for years to come.
So lucky. But great work by JJ and Sherman to sign him for 10 years (or whatever) _before_ this season. Truly incredible.
What timing on that.

Thanks, Greg! Indeed a very, very elevated Baseball IQ.
What I enjoy about the WRC+ list is that Judge seems to be slowing down as the season goes. Bodes well for Bobby’s MVP case

I love Stone. And miss Benetti paired with him.
I would think that with Bobby signed long term, that would make hitters very interested to come to Kansas City. The foundation is in place.

I was surprised at that, too! The game where he just needed the single for the cycle. Which is going to happen.
