Mr. B, thx for your enthusiastic Lo Cain tribute. I hate to type this, but last night Singer was so wild I had visions of Blass and Ankiel dancing in my head. BTW, is there a point to the backstep in his delivery or is it just an affectation?
Thanks, Terry. Blass! Quite a callback. I didn’t think it was that bad. But it wasn’t great. Not sure on the backstep, but I would think it’s a timing and rhythm type of thing for him.
Saturday night: losing a game by one run while leaving 15 runners on base is about as frustrating as a meaningless ballgame can be. The fact that it was their 2nd straight loss to the putrid A's just rubbed salt into the wound. What a godawful way to "honor" Lorenzo Cain.
I didn’t really figure for him to improve on last year necessarily, but the regression is incredibly alarming. He just had absolutely no clue what he was doing out there last night. It was like rolling back time to 2021.
Beautiful tribute to Cain, and bittersweet as well. Bittersweet because of the current state of the team. That's maybe the best nod I can give to Cain and those teams. We always talk about how those teams felt like a lock to win if they had the lead after 6 with that bullpen. But they were also great at coming back. Even if they got down a few runs, I was always confident they could come back. Obviously, they didn't always come back, but they did it enough that it never felt like they were out of a game. I rarely turned a game off early back then, no matter the score.
This team is the exact opposite. They get down a couple runs early and they're toast. I've bailed early quite a bit this year and it hasn't come back to bite me. Even last night, when they clawed their way back within a run with the bases- I kept watching, hoping that their was some old LoCain magic in the building, but I was never really confident. And when MJ struck out in a truly awful at-bat, I wasn't surprised or disappointed really. I expected it. That mix of cynicism and apathy is the worst part about this team.
I went yesterday and sat in left and something funny happened their was a old guy in front of me who thought Olivares was checking his phone in left field. But i'm pretty sure it was just the outfield allignment charts but nonetheless the guy kept chanting "check your phone" everytime he came up
Question: What were your thoughts on bringing in MJ Melendez to pinch hit with the bases loaded facing a lefty? A lot of old people in my life were upset by that managing move,

And 2-13 with runners in scoring position. Three losses in a row possible? Absolutely.
Is Singer injured? I just can’t believe that he’s regressed so much.
I hope this is an intentional tank job by the front office. If they were seriously trying to improve the win total from last year, then good God—

When the 2015 Royals would mount a comeback, it felt inevitable. When the 2023 Royals mount a comeback, that feels like a surprise.

As the official Brady Singer Stan i will try my best to have this start scrubbed from the record
