Great post Craig. He had 4 absolute weapons, all of which he commanded well, none of which were squared up, hardly at all. Something about his motion plays up his velocity on his fastball. Bubic at 94 at the top of the zone was unhittable. Everyone was late on it. We used to hear so much about his change-up. To me, his other 3 pitches were even better than the change. An endorsement of the current coaching staff and an indictment of the previous..

Thanks, Kenny. There was something about that high fastball that just blew my mind. Agree on the change. It was a very good pitch, but the other offerings were mind altering.

Bubic has done a lot of work “off site.” While, yes, this is an indictment on the old coaching staff, it also reflects a new openness within the organization to lead wherever the data and the work leads. The cookie cutter approach to pitching was always doomed to fail. And it was. It’s a new day.

If you remember all the way back to Ian Kennedy's first Royals season, in which he was relatively successful, I used to say that he had the "fastest 93 mph fastball I'd ever seen". Obviously 93 mph is 93 mph, but hitters for whatever reason had a hard time catching up to it. Same with Bubic. They couldn't catch up to it. Not sure if it's the pitching motion, the Giants stayed out all night partying, or what, but it played like Chapman's 100 mph.
