Lynch needs to stop chasing the chase and learn to compete in the zone. He throws too many pitches into the waste. He has a great back leg slider if he could bring it up into the zone and shorten the sweep.
Yes disappointing and he is in his pitching prime. Yet saying all that he has only given up 2 earned runs in 17 innings so I guess something is working.
I don’t know if Pennington is the guy, but at this point, worth a shot just to see. I keep thinking important moves are coming. We may still be a month away from the trade market developing.
I have heard Eisenberg say numerous times that Melendez was robbed of a hit - and I think he has gotten a little unlucky with that lately. I may be delusional, but I think he is about to figure it out.
I definitely love a backup catcher hitting .349/.391/.442 the last 15 games, who wouldn't?
Statcast has Melendez’s xBA at .248 and his xSLG at .443 compared to his .176 BA and .246 SLG, so I think it’s safe to say he’s hit into his share of bad luck. But we’re going on two months of “bad luck” at this point. Dunno. Maybe a trip to Omaha acts as a reset then to get him back into some sort of groove. It’s just difficult to give a guy a lot of playing time when the results clearly aren’t there, even if the process is mostly right.

The slider was supposed to be The Pitch. It’s good with potential, but it just hasn’t developed the way we thought. Disappointing.

It seems like the time to bring Pennington up. He had another good outing yesterday. This pen is not doing it.
