Yes, I was one of those fans behind the third base dugout encouraging the boys. Great group of Royals fans. Can barely talk this morning, but knew I had to leave it all on the field. The streak is broken, so it’s time to get on a roll.
And now for the sober note, I don’t know if it came across on the broadcast, but the batters look completely lost at the plate—the body language was of resignation. Not good at all. But the pitching was terrific and did I mention they won?
Yeah, all we can hope for is that this snaps whatever kind of mental drag has been on this team. Winning the next 2 games would be huge for making the postseason. That Atlanta series is starting to look tough
I was a part of that group of Royals fans behind the third base dugout. It was pretty awesome getting to be with so many others. When I went to games at Orioles park growing up, it always felt like I was the only Royals fan there. This was nice.
It could be my bias, but it sure feels like more Royals fans travel than ever before. The broadcast at least does a very good job finding fans in visiting ballparks. It was a fantastic amount of noise last night that did not go unnoticed.
To be fair, I wasn’t traveling. Going to Nats park is pretty much just like going to work. But the traffic was horrible yesterday. Was almost not worth it
They’re sending out emails to buy tickets now? I thought the lottery thing had already passed. I saw several people who said they weren’t selected to buy tickets. I don’t know…I wouldn’t send them a dime for the Wild Card round.
I'm going to be at Friday's game. I absolutely wouldn't mind if the Royals decided to clinch that night.
But, as I learned while rooting for the Royals to lose one game in San Francisco in 2014, praying for the outcome to come later so I can enjoy it slightly more is a bad idea. So you won't hear a peep from me if the Royals clinch tomorrow afternoon instead.
Enjoy that game. They clinched the Wild Card in 2014 on the last Friday of the season. I imagine there will be a large group of “away” fans at The Battery. Batten down the hatches though, because it’s going to storm on Thursday.
How bad is this roster of position players? Here's a thought experiment: How many of these guys will have an opening-day roster spot on any MLB team next season?
I'm guessing that Renfroe, Frazier, Pham, Hampson, Blanco, Grossman, and DeJong will have to settle for minor-league deals if any--or maybe sign with the White Sox. Gurriel might have a chance.
Renfroe holds a player option for $7.5 million that I would assume will be picked up. Yikes. Blanco is still under club control and isn't yet eligible for arbitration. But yeah...the rest will all have to find work on minor league deals.

Atlanta scares me because you know they’ll show up if they have something to play for.
I’m curious how the weather will impact them the next two days.
Yeah, we were scheduled to miss their top two starters. With the weather coming in, who knows how this plays out.
Yep…I’m not sure anything changed last night. Other than the win, which is definitely huge. I thought overall the game was difficult to watch.
Glad you brought the noise. :)

The “let’s go Royals” chant taking over the ballpark was great!

Can someone explain to me why the Royals are selling Wild card tickets? We know they are not hosting this series. What??
I think they had to because weird things can happen. A week ago, that was possible.
The pain comes from trying to get the money back for games that aren’t held.
I mean, I literally just got a notification about this. We know they aren’t playing this at home. It’s weird

A few tickets are (were?) also available for the ALDS.

That is the single most excruciating, important Royals victory in my memory and I've been around awhile.
Excruciating is the perfect adjective for last night.
