Mr. B, I heard or read somewhere (was it you?) that a big reason Royals pitchers walk so many is that they lack confidence in their stuff. Do you subscribe to this theory? PS-Thanks for your entertaining writing; it brings me pleasurable moments in an otherwise depressing season.
Thanks Terry! On the confidence issue, it wasn’t me. And I have no idea. I’m a little uncomfortable diving into the psyche of the professional athlete. Especially when it’s so general. Sometimes (like Singer with his change) it’s obvious, so sure, I’ll go there. But a collective lack of confidence in their stuff? I’m not so sure about that.
