The tension in our race to the gutter against the A's is almost unbearable! Who will prevail in the battle for historical ineptitude! Sadly, the A's are intentionally tanking while the Royals are trying. It's hard to see things getting better any time soon.
Yea, the Royals are in a bad spot right now. I think keeping JJ and company was a mistake but there's little chance Sherman moves on from them for several more years no matter how poor the results. Just have to hope the last couple drafts pan out better than the decade before.
I think the jury is still out on Sherman. He could surprise us. Like I wrote today, if you’re going to blow it all up, you press the button when your team is winning about a quarter of their games.
At the minimum, I would expect a more aggressive posture in the offseason. Last winter was nothing. Probably because the team thought they could roll the same group out there with another year of experience (along with new coaches and such) and sleepwalk to 70 wins or so and everyone would be happy. They didn’t anticipate sinking like this.

Craig - I have a confession to make: for the first time since just before the All-Star break I devoted 30 seconds to the Royals. Probably out of boredom or sheer masochism, I took a quick glance at the AL Central standings. What I saw was truly horrifying: as putrid is the AL Central is, the Royals aren't 13 games out of first place. They're 13 games out of NEXT-TO-LAST place. I'm absolutely embarrassed to say that I even bothered. At least my decision to disconnect from this team was once again thoroughly verified.
I’m almost to the point where look forward to seeing Freddie behind the plate. He’s done a very good job there and right now, his bat is better than the captain’s too.
Royals are at best a minor league club in all facets of the organization. Move them to AAA, AA might be more fitting for KC. Built a nice 10,000 seat stadium downtown. Lower prices so a fan can enjoying a game without breaking the bank. Not going to HAPPEN.
I know you’re being tongue in cheek here but losing the Royals is an absolute nightmare scenario. No matter how bad they are, Kansas City needs this team. I’ve actually been thinking about this recently, but there is a certain amount of prestige that goes along with being a major league city. I don’t envy what Oakland is dealing with at all.
I love the article. I wish the media would write more articles to put pressure on the front office. They do need to trade any person who can bring any value back in hopes the rebuild will only take 3 years instead of 6 years.
Thanks, Ryan! I’ll keep doing my part at the newsletter. And I’m with you, anything the org can do to accelerate the rebuild is absolutely essential. But the deeper they slide, the more time it’s going to take to pull out of this.

As least the prospect hounds have the draft lottery to get excited about. Other than that, I got nothing.

The White Sox can’t even lose properly. Sad!
Just speculating here. Perhaps that's because their manager is a former Royals coach. Maybe he brought some of their *ahem* "karma" with him.

Agree. Fermin is one of the few bright spots in this dreadful season. I enjoy it when he’s in the lineup.
Move Royals to AAA ball. Build a 10,000 seat stadium downtown. Then, l might watch a few games a year.
