Doh! The headline in the email contains a terrible error! I am officially the Yuniesky Betancourt of headline writers.

How I can spell Yuniesky Betancourt correctly but slip up on Jac is beyond me. I will, as always, blame autocorrect.

At least you didn't put the wrong year in the title of your daily series on the 1985 Royals, like some idiot did the other day. Not only was it not "1985," it was "1969" and I have no idea how I--er, that idiot--did that.

A fireable offense, to be sure. :)

The people responsible for the fault in the headlines have been sacked.

Why isn't Betancourt's first HR in consideration here lol.

That's a dark place. Not going there. Bad enough that I mentioned him.

Mr. B, you could have gone all day without referencing Betancourt. What a horrible player.

Good on Jac for chasing that neck-high fastball and whacking it out. Major Leaguers are not supposed to hit that pitch that far. But I sure hope he doesn't get in a chase habit as bad as Salvy's.

I was at the game when Jim Rooker hit his first two taters. The second one was blasted oppo, a line shot to right. Very impressive power for a pitcher. Also, he was one of those weird dudes who threw left and batted right.

Hey! I'm one of those throw left, bat right weirdos. Rickey Henderson, too! :)

Rooker hit 4 home runs in '69. A .544 SLUG and 130 OPS+. Not bad at all.

It bodes well for Jac that he can hit a high (way high), out of the zone fastball from a lefthander. High 4-seamers are a staple of modern day pitchers. Bring ‘em on!

I agree. Everything about that first home run was crazy impressive to me.

I'm really interested to see what happens in San Diego. If they can win at least one of those games, it was a good road trip. Winning two would set them up for a lot of success coming home.

And the Padres seem likely to be without Merril or Tatis...

And they're coming off an insane four-game series against the Dodgers that was October intense. Maybe a bit of a letdown?

Looking forward to streaming with the Padres announcers on TV. Don and Mud are fantastic.

Craig, it was a total of 16 runs in Arlington, not 14 - I know, hard to fathom!

Wait, wait, wait - you didn't mention the silent treatment they gave the kid after his first HR? Classic the way Jr got them all to jump on the wall and ice the kid for a spell - and I love how Jac responded with the ghost high fives. It's the little things and to me, the best part of the season this far - he'll never forget his first dinger, and the reaction.

To borrow an old bit from the NFL - my favorite of all time btw, "Texas - you just got Jac'd UP!!!"
