I can’t imagine Lugo would be on the team if he hadn’t completed his usual off season workout and throwing programs. Especially after he signed his extension. So I hope a rebound is on the cards.
I’m happy for MJ; but, unless I’m incorrect, I think he heeds to make the Mets’ Opening Day roster before cashing that MLB bank draw; not, I suspect, a forgone conclusion.
I find myself actually getting excited for the WBC this year in a way I've never done before. I blame part of that on the Royals actually looking to be good this year, so I'm just excited for baseball period. I blame another part of it on Bad Bunny's really cool half time show last night reminding me how much of America there is.
I find myself annoyed that Wathan is the only guy going in the team Hall. I don't know what's going on with the voting but we should be flooding that place with guys right now. I swear if we can't have Dyson or HDH but we get Hosmer I'm going to LOSE MY MIND
I looked up last year's announcement about Alex Gordon and found that it came out in mid-March, so I assume there is more news to come. I have a hard time believing none of the players on the ballot this year made it.
I was very lukewarm for the last edition of the tournament, but the crowds were so good and the players were so into it, that I quickly came around. A great diversion from exhibition baseball.
I’ll echo Darin below…I think there is another announcement coming. But the Royals haven’t been great at communication on this front.
Was interesting yesterday to see the Mets’ fans reactions to the MJ signing. Not surprisingly, there were no middle of the road takes—they either hated it or talked themselves into an upcoming 25 HR season. For me, I’m skeptical but wish him the best, and will always wonder who the Royals could have had for him 4 years ago.
I’d lean heavy to the former take, but as I wrote, he does deserve at least a shot at another club. There is opportunity there. Roster Resource has prospect Carson Benge as their primary left fielder.
I had assumed (hoped?) Lugo not making it due to insurance as well. Lindor out but Lugo in? Dont blame Correa for his thoughts, but now looks like it could be a whitewashed mets decision
The one positive thing about Lugo in the WBC is that we might get to find out early if he's going to be able to rebound from last year's debacle.
MJ is one lucky dude, able to once again make MLB bank despite no discernable talent.

Indeed. He is on a split contract where he will earn less if he’s in the minors.

Yeah, I think that's part of it, too, that the event went so well last time that it feels like something I missed and I don't want to do that again.
I hope you two are right about the Hall!

There are a few other players missing from that Team PR roster, which is just kind of strange.
How is Lugo related to Puerto Rico?
His grandfather is from the island. He has referred to himself as “quarter-rican.”
