Kinda hope that we just stay at Kauffman. A new stadium would be great and all, but Kauffman is such a fantastic stadium and so unique that it just wouldn’t feel right to me playing somewhere else
Ok, it is acknowledged that Kauffman is great. But, a downtown stadium is pretty great too. I’m from Virginia, and I’m pretty familiar with Nats Park and Camden Yards. I don’t know, but I’m open to options
The last couple of games I’ve gone to at other parks have been in urban settings. I like it a lot. I think a downtown stadium would have some nice benefits. I’ve always said I’ll go to where the games are being played. I just would hope that they would somehow improve on the Kauffman Stadium experience. Given the missteps to this point, I don’t have confidence.
This idiot typist also craves baseball but needs the AS break to catch up on things: showering, clean underwear, etc. The AS Game itself bores me to tears. Gimme games that actually matter.
Oblique injuries: nasty and unpredictable, so R's should prepare for, perhaps, no mas Lorenzen.
And just as he was starting to get it back together. That's just dandy.
Actually will watch tonight, but only to see how ABS plays out.
The stadium debates comes in handy for this idiot; helps treat his insomnia. Can't get through a full article without nodding off. Let's keep the K; it's just so pretty, helps us get through misery.
'Remember that time you wrote (insert quote of your work in the the voice of ghost of Chris Farley here) ? ... that was awesome' Thanks for the laughs as always.
I've thrown out my back coughing and I've had extremely sore stomach muscles from vomiting. I assume that if a pro athlete misses a game due to illness, he's REALLY sick. Making it more likely you could injure yourself being sick.
Additionally, if he had been dealing with some nagging issue he might have exacerbated it.
I just can't figure out why the Royals would say he was sick if he was hurt. What would they gain?
It was probably just an explanation for a skipped start while hoping that the strain was minor enough that he wouldn’t have to go on the IL. I don’t think anything nefarious is going on. Just the Royals being the Royals.
Are the Royals going to shut down Bubic soon? He is going into uncharted territory on innings pitched in a season, and we are a little over half way through the season.
I don’t think so. He’s at 109 innings now. He’s thrown around 130 twice in the majors. He’s also gone to 150 in his first full season in the organization in the minors back in 2019. I imagine they’ll manage his workload. Maybe on a bit of a tighter leash down the stretch. Especially if they drop further back.
Let's be frank. The stadium deal is 90% about the landgrab for future development.
The city/State (s) should reach out to MLB and agree to let the organization go in exchange for the current team leaves the geographic market, and another team takes up residence and the identity, and the city keeps the rights to both "Royals" and "Monarchs" as baseball team names and all imagery, etc.
Option 2: Same as one, but the City, County and State buy a new franchise and treat it as a revenue producing entity outside of the government administration.
Let them go and start on a clean slate in New Orleans...
On the pitching woes... Long and Schreiber should be able to give 3 or 4 quality innings each.
On another matter, the Yankees recently DFA'd an infielder (D.J. LeMayhew) that was hitting .266. We should snap him up as the Yankees would be on the hook for anything above the minimum. Even without power, he would be an improvement. 2 year deal...

It does have an iconic feel at this point.
3rd-oldest stadium in the league!
I don't see anything wrong with Kauffman Stadium at all. Royals, just sign the lease and get on with it.
Lack of side revenue is what’s wrong with The K. The ownership group needs more of your cash.

Honk all if you love Honkbal!
I hear you on needing a break to catch up on things. Believe me. Sleep has been penciled in for this week. Probably won’t be successful, but I’ll try.
Love this blog/column, whatever. Keep it up!
Thank you, Anne. I don’t know what to call it either. :)

Thank you, Herbie! Appreciate you stopping by and commenting!
Considering the current injury situation it is going to be difficult to trade Lugo at the deadline should the Royals choose to become sellers.
Yep. Bad timing on this. Royals should still do it if they can get some value. Lugo would absolutely bolster a contender’s rotation.

I've seen national media mention this, but not much locally. Is this an issue in short-term?

I think your percentage is too low. It’s all about development around the park and how that would directly benefit the ownership group.
The Royals may look elsewhere, but I am skeptical they would find a landing spot outside of the KC area.

LeMahieu is cooked defensively. The bat -even if it remains league average-ish - can’t carry the glove.
